Product Engineering in Motion: MATERIALICA 2008 strengthens its position as a leading trade fair for material supply
Munich, October, 2008: Successful product engineering becomes reality when innovative key competences are merged at the right moment. This year, experts met at the specialist trade fair MATERIALICA – 11th International Trade Fair for Material Applications, Surfaces and Product Engineering – which took place from October 14 through 16, 2008, at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre. MATERIALICA 2008 was back with an extended focus and a new claim. To strengthen the individual topics of this trade fair, the umbrella brand MATERIALICA integrated four different sub-fairs: COMPOSITES, METAL LIGHT, CERAMICS and SURFACE. The new slogan "Product Engineering in Motion" was chosen to emphasize that MATERIALICA and its exhibitors focus on industries "on the move" such as automotive, aerospace, engineering, sports, energy technology and boatbuilding. MATERIALICA presented itself with a record participation of 374 represented companies and a broad conference program that attracted over 7,000 international visitors to the capital of Bavaria.
MATERIALICA is the only event in Germany that has committed itself exclusively to the topic of material supply. The fair featured materials and components that are intended to conquer more markets and are suitable for use in other applications as well. "However, MATERIALICA is not only a trade fair but also a meeting point for members of the product engineering sector and an opportunity to get together and exchange information. This is also why we organized conferences that covered the topics of composites, lightweight metal design, ceramics applications, surface, nanotechnology, boatbuilding, design and technology transfer", says Robert Metzger, organizer of MATERIALICA. "The multitude of conferences will enable experts of all MATERIALICA topics and target industries to communicate their knowledge more extensively and in more depth. With some 760 visitors joining the conferences, this concept proved to be highly successful."
Target group reached – the high quality of visitors was praised This year's MATERIALICA 2008 was considered highly successful by the exhibitors. "We made very good contacts again this year. Mainly construction engineers, developers and Managing Directors addressed us with precise issues and were looking for suitable solutions. According to Günter Hopmann, Head of Distribution at Starnberger Beschichtungen GmbH, MATERIALICA's greatest assets are its specialist visitors. "We are absolutely thrilled about the high quality of visitors", states Alexander Haas, Business Development & Sales Surface Technology of the global player Sandvik GmbH. But also Michael Schmitt, Technical Account Manager, Innovation Friction, Sealing and Paper at Teijin Aramid GmbH praises this event: "We are extremely satisfied with our participation at MATERIALICA and were able to increase our customer contacts even further as compared with last year. 95% of all conversations referred to concrete enquiries - this makes MATERIALICA particularly attractive." Also first-time exhibitors came to a positive conclusion: "This was our first time at MATERIALICA as an exhibitor. We were quite surprised how popular aluminum is among visitors. Dipl.-Ing. Erich Hoch, Head of Product and Process Engineering Semifinished Products at F.W. Brökelmann Aluminiumwerke GmbH & CO.KG. describes the trade fair as follows: "We received quite a few very detailed enquires about particular applications." And Dirk Löckener, Managing Director at ProductConcept summarizes the success by saying: "The quality of visitors is extraordinary. Particularly decision-makers addressed us with precise requests."
Date 2009 MATERIALICA 2009 will take place from October 13 through October 15, 2009, at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre.
